Born in Durham, North Carolina and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Ashton graduated from North Carolina A&T State University in May 2021. She worked as an executive assistant at Sony Pictures Entertainment before joining NBC and CNBC, moving her way up from news fellow to reporter.
